Perfect selection and case for travel, good quality and cute case
I received this for my birthday. I love that everything I need is in one handy little carrying case. So far, everything in this works great. I'm very pleased with it. The only con I've found, and it's minor, is the latch on the case doesn't close tightly. It does click shut, but it's nota really solid latch, so I'm constantly adjusting the items within it, to try to get it to latch a bit more securely. Of course, it might just be me. I'm always worrying that things won't close securely and I'll lose things. So far, however, I've not had any issues at all.
This is a preliminary observation having just received this set yesterday. Your experience might be different. The Tools:The manicure tools appear to be made from very high quality stainless steel yet, upon actually holding them, they feel quite weightless. I have to admit, it was disappointing. My disappointment lessened upon trying the larger of the two fingernail trimmers. I have to say, too, I could have done without the smiley stamped into the handles. There just isn't a logical reason to have put it there, IMHO. Anyway, due to medical conditions, I've lost a lot of the strength & feeling in my right hand so trimming my left fingernails is sometimes a challenge. Not so with these. Despite their deceptively light weight, the clippers are quite sharp, although the longer handles provide more leverage, which helps a lot, too.The cuticle trimmer also seems to lack substance. I would have been much happier with a larger handle, again that's my personal preference, but this tool is also wickedly sharp.I have not yet used most of the other tools. But I don't foresee any major variations from the two I've mentioned. I will add that I'm not sure the smallest nail clippers will see much use since it's at what appears to be a 45° angle. I could be wrong so I'll leave it for the update. The Case:I was glad my case had black lining, after all. I really didn't like the red but the alternative was not worth the 50% increase in price. Overall, however, I guess I'm glad more money went into the tools within the chincy case rather than the other way around. But I was still annoyed when the vinyl strap holding the clippers broke so easily even as I was extra careful in my attempt to remove them. The Bottom Line:Like I said, this is a preliminary overview. And, yes, this is a $10 mani-/pedicure set so I can't expect any semblance of high quality. I'll give these 4 stars for now despite the flimsy straps. In a couple months, I'll update this once I see how the tools hold up under normal use.Hope this helps!
